Awards and Grants

The Neuman Systems Model Research Institute

Purpose:

To advance and provide a guide for research using the Neuman Systems Model and to build ties among Neuman Systems Model researchers.

John Crawford Research Fellow Award ($100 each for up to five awards each biennium)

Criteria for selection as a fellow are that the candidate must:

·         Have educational and/or experiential preparation in use of the Neuman Systems Model

·         Have made a contribution to use of the Neuman systems Model as a guide for research; examples include literature reviews, methodology, instrument development, concept clarification efforts, and empirical studies

·         Demonstrate potential for future contributions to the Neuman Systems Model  Research Institute

·         Be nominated by a Neuman Systems Model Trustee or a person knowledgeable in use of the Neuman Systems Model as a guide for research model

·         Agree to make a presentation at the next Neuman Systems Model Biennial Symposium, or arrange to have his/her work presented by a symposium attendee if the Fellow is not able to attend the symposium

Patricia Chadwick Research Grant ($1,000 up to one each biennium)

Criteria for funding a grant are that the candidate must:

·         Be a novice researcher (e.g., a doctoral candidate or within 3 years after graduation from a research doctoral program) whose research will lead to new nursing knowledge framed within the Neuman Systems Model

·         Agree to present his/her findings at the next Neuman Systems Model Biennial Symposium, or arrange to have his/her work presented by a symposium attendee if the Fellow is not able to attend the symposium

The Neuman Systems Model Education Academy

Purpose:

To recognize and honor educators for their contributions to Neuman Systems Model-based education. Projects that warrant recognition are Neuman Systems Model-guided courses and/ or curricula, teaching strategies, educational tools, and/or publications. Education applications may be at the associate, baccalaureate, master’s, or doctoral level of education.

Rosalie Mirenda Education Fellow Award ($100 each for up to five awards each biennium)

Criteria for selection as a fellow are that the candidate must:

·         Have educational and/or experiential preparation in use of the Neuman Systems Model

·         Contribute to use of the Neuman Systems Model in nursing education

·         Demonstrate potential for future contributions to the Neuman Systems Model Education Academy

·         Be nominated by a Neuman Systems Model Trustee or another person knowledgeable in use of the Neuman Systems Model as a guide for nursing education.

·         Agree to present his/her work at the next Neuman Systems Model Biennial Symposium, or arrange to have his/her work presented by a symposium attendee if the Fellow is not able to attend the symposium.

Lois Lowry Education Grant ($1,000 up to one each biennium)

Criteria for funding a grant are that the candidate must:

·         Actively use the Neuman Systems Model in nursing education

·         Provide a detailed plan for furthering the use of the Neuman Systems Model in nursing education

·         Identify outcome measures to be used in assessing the effectiveness of the plan.

·         Agree to present his/her work at the next Neuman Systems Model Biennial Symposium, or arrange to have his/her work presented by a symposium attendee if the grant recipient is not able to attend the symposium.  

The Neuman Systems Model Practice Center

Purpose:

To facilitate and acknowledge individuals’ endeavors to translate research into practice and to implement the Neuman System Model in healthcare practice settings.

Practice Award Fellow ($100 each for up to five awards each biennium)

Criteria for selection as a fellow are that the candidate must:

·         Have applied the concepts of the Neuman Systems Model to a practice setting

·         Contribute to use of the Neuman Systems Model in nursing practice

·         Demonstrate potential for future contributions to the Neuman Systems Model Practice Center

·         Be nominated by a Neuman Systems Model Trustee or another person knowledgeable in use of the Neuman Systems Model as a guide for nursing practice.  

·         Agree to present his/her work at the next Neuman Systems Model Biennial Symposium, or arrange to have his/her work presented by a symposium attendee if the Fellow is not able to attend the symposium.

Translation into Practice (TRIP) Grant ($1,000 up to one each biennium)

Criteria for funding a TRIP grant are that the candidate must:

·         Actively use the Neuman Systems Model in nursing practice

·         Provide a detailed plan for translating Neuman Systems Model –guided research into practice

·         Identify outcome measures to be used in assessing the effectiveness of the plan.

·         Agree to present his/her work at the next Neuman Systems Model Biennial Symposium, or arrange to have his/her work presented by a symposium attendee if the grant recipient is not able to attend the symposium.
