Area of expertise with NSM:

1. Replication Study.  Measuring theory-based outcomes of an associate degree program.  (Five year longitudinal study by Lowry & Jopp, original researchers)
2. Application of adult learning principles and various critical thinking strategies to promote learning of the NSM.  (i.e. case studies, collaborative learning with peers, faculty role modeling in lecture and discussion, and concept mapping.)
3. Theory and Research utilization to develop several student projects beyond classroom presentation into amateur video projects which document undergraduate contributions with interpretation and application of the NSM.  Produced with support from university Learning Resource Center.

Area of interest re: Consultations with the NSM.  Any of the areas listed in previous item citing my area of expertise such as:

1. replicating the longitudinal study and instrument design
2. teaching strategies that promote critical thinking
3. video production

Selected consulting experience with the NSM:

2001May/June Administrative and senior nursing staff at Emergis in Goes, Zeeland, Holland were visited.  Assessment of the integration and use of the Neuman Systems Model in psychiatric services of this health care agency.  A report and recommendations followed the visit. Presentations to students, faculty, and university officials were made in Utrecht, Holland; Plock, Poland, and Vasteras, Sweden.

1997-present  Parkview Health Systems, Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA. Ongoing consultation on the integration of theoretical nursing models into clinical practice and nursing management.

1992-1994  Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA.  Consultation on the interpretation and integration of nursing theories into practice.  Produced several in house inservices.  Planned an all day conference 5/93 including the following three nursing theorists/theories:  Betty Neuman, Jean Watson, and Patricia Benner.

1992-May 20 Nursing faculty from William Rainey Harper College, Chicago, IL on the application of the Neuman Systems Model in an associate degree nursing curriculum.
